Fossils of ammonites make me stop walking and persuade me to withdraw from the world around me and think. In this little spec of time I live in I see the remains of these creatures from 200 million years ago.

No, that doesn’t mean anything to me. I can imaging 100 years… and 10 x 100 years… and maybe 100 x 1000 years. But then it becomes incomprehensible. 200 x 1000 x 1000 years? I think for a long time. But it doesn’t help. I really can’t imagine that length of time. I walk away trying to explain what time is…

“Time is like a snowflake – it melts away while we try to decide what to do with it”
